Small School Values - Large School Opportunities

Summer is ending and we are about to begin the 2007-2008 school year. An Open House will be held at the school from 3:30 to 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, August 30th, 2007. This year we will be handing out a magnetic school year calendar to each family at the Open House. We hope you will make an effort to drop in to visit and get your free school year calendar. The first day of attendance for students will be an early release day on Tuesday, September 4th, 2007, with the students released at 1:00 P.M.

If you are new to the district I encourage you to come by the school to register and enroll your children. You may contact the elementary office at 624-5201 or the high school office at 735-4311.

If you have any interest in hosting a foreign exchange student for a semester or full year please contact the high school or district office. There are still opportunities for additional placements with some wonderful young students from all over the globe still waiting for a family willing to open their door. Last year was an enormous success with our foreign exchange program and we are optimistic that this year will hold similar achievements. Remember, you do not have to have children enrolled in school to host an exchange student. Many of our host families no longer have children in school and I would encourage you to contact the district office for more information.

Both the staff and I invite community members and parents to come by and visit with the teachers and tour the facility. You have many reasons to be proud of the school, facilities, and staff at North Crawford School. But, what makes our school truly special are the students. We invite you to join us in our efforts to make this school year the best yet. Working together we can give our children the quality education they deserve and prepare them for the challenges of tomorrow.

The maintenance staff has worked very hard to prepare the school and grounds for the first day of school. They have worked very hard this summer to complete all of energy efficient lighting in the halls, performance center, and gymnasiums. I am certain you will be impressed with the improved lighting in these areas, especially the performance center. Additionally, many teachers and cooks have already been getting everything ready for classes and serving food. We hope you will share the same pride in our school as we do and join us in thanking all those who have worked so hard over the summer months.

In closing, I hope you have enjoyed your summer and we all hope you will come and visit us soon at North Crawford School.

Respectfully,

Daniel M. Davies
High School Principal/District Administrator
